Description
English: Thousands of hungry and ragged Romanians waiting in line for food and clothing outside ARC canteen, Jassy. Many of Romania's destitute would gather at the Canteen at 2 o'clock in the morning in order to be the first in line. Hot meals and clothing were given to every person who would take a bath at least once a week at the American Red Cross Bath House. "A Meal for a Bath" was the slogan of the American Mission. This had a potent effect in encouraging cleanliness among the poor
