Description Apollo 16 Hasselblad image from film magazine 109/G - EVA-1. Down-sun, pre-sampling photo of the location of sample 61295, a regolith breccia, chipped off the boulder that the gnomon is sitting on. The boulder is on the rim of Plum crater, and Flag crater is in the background.
This photo was used in Figure 6-27 of the Apollo 16 Preliminary Science Report (NASA SP-315), which has the following caption:
Large, filleted boulder showing white regolith kicked up by astronauts.
