Description

In due course Carvair G-ASKN was repainted in the British United group two-tone sandstone and blue band livery with stylised bird logo and black titles. In Aug 1967 it was leased to Colin Beale as a flying exhibition hall and for a short time adopted ‘CB Flying Showcases’ title and ‘Showcase’ in place of the forward ‘BUA’ and the bird logo. The project was apparently unsuccessful and by 18 Oct 1967, when I caught it lifting off from Southend, G-ASKN was back in normal BUA colours. Soon after, it assumed a hybrid British Air Ferries scheme where ‘BUA’ on nose and fin became BAF, the sandstone and blue band was extended over the bird logo and BAF titles were applied to the cabin roof.
