SCREEN ROAD TO "A" ROUTE CAMOUFLÉE VERS "A" A.Y. JACKSON, 1882-1973
Notes
English: Jackson here captures a 1918 scene behind the front lines battle, this road the soldiers are walking down are actually screened by giant camoflauge netting to obscure them from the enemy. As th Germans held the higher ground at Somme and could observe activities well, hence the camoflauge screens. Though enemy 'spotters' sometimes used planes to get a birds eye view so to speak of their enemies position.
