English: A 'cattle grid' under construction on the First Hydro road This private road, open to pedestrians and cyclists, leads from the gate in the middleground to Marchlyn Mawr reservoir and, along another branch, to the surge pond above Dinorwig Quarry. The gate is always kept locked. Plans are now in the offing for raising the level of the Marchlyn dam and the construction of this cattle grid to stop sheep approaching the gate and escaping when contractors' lorries enter the private road is part of the preliminary work. |
