The local city department was cleaning out the water hyacinth which was choking the lake. The rains last month had bought the Hyacinth alive and it was everywhere. And that is a feast for these Jacana's which could be seen in good numbers - maybe a dozen or so along with several other water birds.

But then the cleaning machine is active in the water and it is slowly clearing up the Hyacinth. Sometimes the machine gets too close to these birds - the birds don't want to lose their food, but don't want to get caught in the machine. This Jacana found a good hunting place near the banks / dirt road - but was wary of the people (incl. me) and keeping an eye on both the machine and the people. Luckily for me it just gave me an opportunity for a couple of good close up shots.
