as that the angles of the teeth onthe left-fide in one row, approach the angles of the teeth on theright-fide in the next row. Thofe teeth which ftand on a linefrom without inwards, I call a row; not thofe which are placednearly in a parallel line from one fide of the month to theother. The fharp bone of the fting-ray was fixed in the lower jawbetween two rows of teeth, and at their pofterior part, wherethe firft rudiments of the future teeth are formed, and it willbe clear to every one, particularly thofe who are converfant infuch matters, that this could not have happened without pro*ducing a great deal of pain, fwelling, and diforder in the partwhere it* was fixed. It is unneceflary to enumerate the dif-ferent kinds of mifchlef this might occafion. Let it fuffice toobferve, that on account of the fpace taken up by this extra-neous body, the teeth on each fide of itf for want of room, couldnever after be perfectly formed.
