Another endemic species this part of the state. We explored a new dry forest area which was incredibly beautiful and looked very promising. Alas, it turned out to be a disappointment due to a huge number of BT Cotton fields on the edges of the range. In fact, the entire boundary of the forest is littered with BT Cotton fields. The cotton plants are pest resistant, weather resistant and apparently guarantee a yield. However, they are a disaster to nature as the insects avoid the fields entirely and so do birds. So wherever these fields are present, there is near total absence of birds and insects. Luckily the shrike found a place on the edge to hunt for some crickets - I wouldn't be surprised if it leaves the place soon.
