| Description | All this graving I've been doing lately has perhaps done strange things to my head. The reason I took this picture was to add to my collection of "cemetery furniture" pictures. But I remember thinking when I took it that it would be pleasant to sit in that bench, sipping a glass of wine, and watching the sun set (except that I think it was facing the wrong direction -- the next day's sunrise might have been better). This was a couple of hours before dusk at the end of a good day. An unseasonably cool breeze was blowing, and the sleeping dead all around me seemed content. Glenwood Cemetery, Tupelo, Mississippi. |
