Papier-mache covers, the exteriors decorated with a family in European attire having a meal and at prayer in the courtyard of a domed Armenian church in New Julfa, flanked by hunting scenes and portraits of maidens, inside with two maidens and a dog playing with a rose, signed 'raqam-i qamtarin Ja'far Najaf'Ali', with mirror

Catalogue Note

Another mirror-case depicting an outdoor scene with an almost identical domed Armenian church in the background, signed by Najaf'Ali, can be found in the Nasser D. Khalili Collection (Khalili, Robinson and Stanley 1997, vol. II, no. 234, pp.38-9).
