As the rainy season continues and more rains pour down, one bird thrives - the rain quail or Black Breasted Quail. They are seen only in the rainy season after which they migrate to wetter places. The birds are very small, size a little kids fist, but are so much fun to watch and listen to. Their loud call is so easy to recognize and spot. And this is the birds breeding season and the calls are everywhere in low bushy areas. This year was my first sighting and I learnt that it is tough to spot the females (I did spot once though, but no shots). The female is identified by the lack of black on the chest / belly and on the face. And the ratio of male / female seems to be quite bad based on the sightings recorded.
