English: A Short Walk 474725 : Previous -- (9 of 20) -- Next : 474770
Try to imagine this short, after lunch walk as being in the shape of a tadpole. The walk starts at the bottom of the tail, goes clockwise around the body and then, back down the tail. At the end of the tail is the Hardwick Inn and car park, whilst the body comprises Hardwick Great Pond and a small area of wetland to the south. This photograph is looking back over a footbridge that crosses 474768 draining a large, round wetland area into Hardwick Great Pond. The area concerned was once a duck decoy. On both sides of the bridge the land consists of overgrown scrub that has been allowed to remain flooded to help provide a habitat for the water vole. Note: In my opinion, the streams position is not shown correctly on the OS Map. |
