Description |
A Simpson & Son was originally a tinfoil manufactury which was established in 1853 by Alfred Simpson. The company's production expanded to include agricultural equipment, safes and munitions during World War One. It had premises on the corner of Gawler Place and Grenfell St, as well as in Wakefield St (ironworks with two acres of roof), Pirie Street, Flinders Street and Angas Street. In 1963 Simpson and Son merged with Pope Industries to form Simpson Pope Holdings which is now owened by Electrolux and they continue to produce household goods and appliances.
