Elle témoigne des wheelbarrow riots qui ont secoué Shanghai en avril 1897. Dumoulin utilisant le terme "volontaires" au verso du montage, il fait probablement référence au Corps des volontaires de Shanghai (Shanghai Volunteer Corps) qui a effectivement participé à la répression de ces émeutes. |
