| Description |
One of the few rare birds I have my in collection. The bird is not researched much due to difficult sightings and hence a lot is unknown. Whatever little is known is that it frequents forest edges and then thought to migrate within the country - the range again is not well known. We sighted it on the edge of a forest near some dry fields where no crop has been sowed yet. The bird prefers those dry fields - with red soil - to hunt small insects in the ground. We looked for the bird for quite a while and were unable to find it, Just when we were winding up. sighted the bird quite close around 15 feet and hunting on the ground. The bird was agile and didn't stay on any perch for more than 10 seconds. It was diving to the ground - the red soil - which it prefers - for insects and was coming back on to another perch - all within seconds making it difficult to shoot.
