. In cases we find Indian relics, which help us to understand alittle about Indian life. There are thousands of objects gatheredhere that show us something of the customs and domestic life ofmany of the different races found in North and South America, 92 MUSEUMS AND PAKKS CHILDKEN SHOULD VISIT 1)8 and in other countries. There is a large lecture hall in which lec-tures are given to teachers and pupils of the public schools and alsoto the general public. Cases containing specimens for study aresent directly to the schools. They are helpful in the study of birds,insects, corals, sponges, woods, and minerals. Children are alwayswelcome in the museum, and the director and curators take pleasurein assisting teachers and children in their school work. The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This museum is in CentralPark opposite the East 83d street entrance. It is the largest andrichest art museum in America. Here may be seen the worksof great sculptors and painters. Here may be found antiquities.
