English: Relief shown by hachures. Differs from other 1844 ed. in that the printed plate numbers on 34 maps do not correspond to the plate numbers printed in the table of contents. Engraved t.p. LC Civil War maps (2nd ed.), S193 Phillips, 4324 Available also through the Library of Congress Web site as a raster image. LC copy signed in ink on front fly-leaf "Sherman 1844". Numerous ink and pencil annotations on margins and versos of maps, including 7 maps. LC copy rebound and boxed in green cloth, with all pages encapsulated. Original boards with Sherman bookplate retained in box. |
