English: A square from the air Looking north-ish from a plane, at TL4314. The map square below also includes a 500m border, meaning that you can see Gilston church in the next square south, as you can in the picture. (Below the copyright notice, you can also see the tongue of woodland that is at the bottom of the picture.)
Beyond that, you can see where the pylons march right through this square, maintaining a dead-straight line. Clearly marked are the two woods, the pylons passing over the right-hand corner of the first and the left-hand corner of the other. Looking at the 1:25,000 map (using the Get-a-Map link on this page), you will be able to recognise lots of other features for example, the little track in the foreground that just fizzles out in the middle of a field (in the next square south). |
