Summary edit

Description
English: A symbolic gravestone in Kirkland and Glencairn Kirkyard. This 17th century gravestone displays a symbol of immortality in the form of a winged soul representing the human spirit arising to await the Day of Judgement. Below are symbols of mortality with the carvings of an hourglass, turf cutter and spade, skull and bones, a reminder that death comes to everyone. For a view of the inscription on the other side of the stone, see 1721458.
