Summary

Description
English: A tall tree in the grounds of Dryburgh Abbey This tall tree is a Wellingtonia sequia dendron giganteum, according to a name tag on the trunk. Originally found on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada in California, the species is the world's largest living organism and the longest lived. The tree has a very soft bark and I recall as a child the fun of being able to punch the bark without feeling any pain. I had another go on my visit today.
