  • The tall stonework on the extreme left and the blocks of stone on the bank at the right are ruined piers that once formed part of the Pont Saint-Bénézet, a bridge across the Rhône that was abandoned in the 17th century.
  • A very similar oil painting by Marlow is in the collection of the Musée Calvet in Avignon (Accession number 22434).
  • Another version of this painting is in the collection of the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, UK (Accession number K2976).
  • The Tate in London owns a watercolour by Marlow that shows the abbaye Saint-André viewed from a similar position (Accession number T08209).
