Español: La Abdicación de Bernardo O´Higgins. 28 de enero de 1823.

Los problemas políticos ocurridos durante el Gobierno de O´Higgins (1818_1823) fueron determinantes para el abrupto fin de su período, caracterizado por fuertes tensiones entre la aristocracia y el Director Supremo, que trataba de organizar a la naciente República, y que amenazaban con llevar a la frágil nación al borde de una guerra civil.

En medio de la inquietud y descontento creciente de los vecinos de la capital se cita a un Cabildo Abierto para el 28 de enero de 1823, en el Tribunal de Consulado, (Ubicado en el lugar donde se encuentra el actual Palacio de Justicia, Compañía esquina Bandera, vereda sur, demolido el año 1906 para la construcción del actual edificio).

En esta reunión se le pidió a O´Higgins que abandonase su cargo como medio de evitar la guerra civil que se anunciaba ya por los rencores y conflictos acumulados.
