Description
English: Abdij van Maredsous (benedictijns klooster) gelegen in Denée, Anhée België. De stichting van Maredsous gebeurde in 1872 als refugehuis voor Duitse kloosterlingen. De abdij werd gebouwd in de periode 1873-1892. Reeds in 1876 konden de monniken in de abdij intrekken. De abdij bestaat uit een grote kloosterkerk en een aantal gebouwen rond een vierkante binnenplaats. De kerk is publiek toegankelijk. Daarnaast is er een gastenverblijf en een ontvangstgebouw met winkels, museumruimte en restaurant, waar vroeger de eetzaal voor het klooster was. Het college Collège Saint-Benoît, werd gesticht in 1881. In 1903 werd de abdij uitgebreid met een École de Métiers d'Art gericht op kunststielen.
