Summary

edit
Description Second largest glacial lake in the Alps, Lake Constance is the principle remain of the large glacial overdeepening left behind by the Last Glacial Maximum Rhine glacier piedmont lobe. Near the triple point between Germany, Switzerland and Austria, the Rhine River has been artificially extended by levees to displace sedimentation away from the lake head. The lake shores are surrounded by one of the most extensive drumlin fields in the Alps.
