Summary edit
DescriptionAbrams temporal.svg |
English: According to Meyer H. Abrams, the mimetic orientation is the most venerable tradition of the four, finding its roots in the early classical philosophers. The pragmatic orientation emerged in the late classical period. Together, these two orientations dominated Western critical thought until the emergence of romanticism in the early 19th century. The objective orientation has come into its own only in the 20th century, and only among the avant-garde. |
