Kommentar: Daniel Itzig [auch Jaffe, Berlin, Eschwe] (1723-1799), Berliner Bankier und Unternehmer, als Münzentrepreneur im Siebenjährigen Krieg reich geworden, war seit 1764 Oberlandesältester der preußischen Judenschaft und erhielt 1791 für sich und seine 15 Kinder das Naturalisationspatent, das sie - als erste Juden in Preußen - zu Staatsbürgern erklärte. Die Medaille ist ihm nach der Aufschrift 1793 zu seinem 70. Geburtstag von seinem ältesten Sohn Isaak gewidmet worden. In der zeitgenössischen Verkaufsanzeige (Hoffmann 33) wird sie auf den 71. Geburtstag bezogen.
