  • 1 – input beam
  • 2, 9 – focusing lenses
  • 3 – optically transparent material (the angled side prevents sound wave reflection and formation of a standing wave)
  • 4 – sound absorptive material
  • 5 – ultrasonic running wave
  • 6 – piezoelectric crystal, which converts electrical signal to the sound wave
  • 7 – zero order of diffraction
  • 8 – non-zero orders of diffraction (they exist only when the sound wave is present)
  • 10 – modulated output beam
  • 11 – aperture
