English: Across the Dane Valley, Cheshire The picture shows grazing land this side of the River Dane, which is heavily shrouded with deciduous trees. Beyond is the railway viaduct across the Dane Valley. The brick built viaduct has 23 arches, and is 105 feet (32 metres) above the river. It was built by over 500 navvies from 1839-1841, and still carries trains to Manchester from the south. |
