Kanpei had failed to prevent his master from committing the attack that led to his death, so he was shamed into retiring to the life of a hunter.In the background Kanpei the hunter meets by chance another one of Lord Enyas samurai retainers Yagor?, who tells Kanpei that he can buy his way back into the honorable samurai fellowship. Hearing this, Kanpeis father-in-law Yochibei secretly sells his daughter, Kanpeis beloved wife Okaru, into prostitution.
