Español: Se supone que este acueducto se construyó en el siglo I cuando Mérida (Badajoz, España) se llamaba Emérita Augusta, su objeto fue transportar el agua desde el embalse de Proserpina situado a unos 5 km de la citada ciudad. El acueducto forma parte del conjunto arqueológico de Mérida que fue declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco en el año 1993.
English: It is assumed that this aqueduct was built in the first century when Mérida (Badajoz, Spain) was called Emérita Augusta, its purpose was to transport the water from the Proserpina reservoir located about 5 km from that city. The aqueduct is part of the archaeological site of Mérida that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993.
