Summary

edit
Description The U.S. Navy destroyer Base, San Diego, California (USA) on 9 April 1941, showing the boat park along the waterfront, the marine railway in the upper right, and new buildings under construction. The ship in the right center is U.S. Navy Water Barge YW-56 (formerly USS Turner, DD-259). The ship near the marine railway's seaward end is probably USS Rigel (AD-13), which was redesignated ARb-1 on the following day. Two flush-deck & four-pipe destroyers and four minesweepers (former tuna boats) are also visible at the right.
