English: Afghan Local Police recruits assume security positions outside a bazaar during a combat reconnaissance patrol in Nawbahar district, Zabul province, Afghanistan, March 29. The patrol is the culmination of a three-week course that teaches ALP candidates basic policing procedures, weapons handling and other skills necessary to protect and defend Afghan citizens.
