Summary edit
DescriptionAfon Conwy and Pont Fawr - geograph.org.uk - 1607038.jpg |
English: Afon Conwy and Pont Fawr This elegant three-arched bridge at Llanrwst, is traditionally said to have been designed by architect Inigo Jones in 1636, although it has been suggested that the connection is probably because Richard Wynn of nearby Gwydir acted as Treasurer to the Queen and would have paid Jones. It is possible that the design of the bridge is based on Palladios not-dissimilar design for a three-arch bridge. http://www.coflein.gov.uk/en/site/24053/details/LLANRWST+BRIDGE/ The building to the top left is Tu Hwnt I'r Bont - literally 'beyond the bridge'. The bank in the foreground seems to have been invaded by Himalayan balsam. |
