On remarque ici le petit dé de mousse de polystyrène qui maintient écartées les deux faces de l'ailette.
Ces quatre ailettes ont été fixées ici au bas d'une fusée de 0,5L à petit culot ; il faut se souvenir, en effet, que la traînée de culot d'une fusée (et de toutes sortes de projectiles) est particulièrement forte. Réduire la surface du culot peut donc apparaître comme une nécessité (même si la plupart des fusées à eau sont des fusées imitatives,c.-à-d. qu'elles visent à ressembler aux vraies fusées, lesquelles présentent généralement de très forts culots).
