Description
English: The U.S. Navy aircraft of Carrier Air Group 3 (CVG-3) on deck of the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga (CVA-60), in 1963. Carrier Air Group 3 (CVG-3) was assigned to the Saratoga for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 29 March to 25 October 1963. Visible aircraft are (front to back):
  • a Douglas A-3B Skywarrior of Heavy Attack Squadron 9 (VAH-9) "Hoot Owls";
  • three Douglas A-1H Skyraider of Attack Squadron 35 (VA-35) "Black Panthers";
  • a Vought F-8D Crusader of Fighter Squadron 32 (VF-32) "Swordsmen";
  • two McDonnell F-3B Demon of VF-31 "Tomcatters".
