Description

Description: Airmail pilot Ira Biffle poses in winter flight gear leaning on his airplane in Chicago, Illinois. Biffle served as an airmail pilot for the Post Office Department from 1918-1919 and 1923-1927. In 1922, while serving as a flying instructor in Lincoln, Nebraska, Biffle taught flying to a lanky young man named Charles Lindbergh.
