Summary edit

Description
English: Airmyn Old Drain, Airmyn, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
The southern end of Old Drain at Airmyn passing under the Aire & Calder Navigation on its way to Dutch River. The lower section of the River Don is known as Dutch River after Dutch civil engineer Cornelius Vermuyden who diverted it to join the River Ouse at Goole as part of a marshland drainage project in 1627. The Don originally meandered its way across the Hatfield Chase marshland to join the River Trent near its junction with the Ouse and formed the county boundary between Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Dutch River was designed to be navigable but after the completion of the railway line in 1870 and the Aire & Calder Navigation (Knottingley and Goole Canal) in 1897 it became little more than a very large field drain.
