The Alaska House was opened in April 1906 by John Dubreuil and D.B. Quinlan, and its obscured sign is visible at middle left of photo [Source: Seward Alaska, A History of the Gateway City by Mary J. Barry, 1986, p. 81] The AEC existed from 1914-1923, and Seward was chosen as one terminus of what became Alaska Railroad in 1915, but this building was actually completed for the AEC's predecessor, Alaska Central Railway, by Jan. 1906
