English: Distribution of Albanians in Albania around the fall of the Ottoman Empire. Each region is colored according to the percentage of Albanians living there out of all inhabitants, as based on data from various censuses (Ottomon 1877, Ottomon 1908, Albanian 1918). Albanians form absolute majorities in every district except for Delvina (where they are 42%), with its large numbers of Greeks, Vlachs and Roma.

Main sources: 1. Albanian census of 1918. This census was taken for the most part by the Austro-Hungarians who administrated most of Albania at that time. Areas they didn't have control over (i.e. the South and certain Eastern regions) were not covered. This data is thus used for Central and Northern Albania (the southernmost regions covered being Mallakastra and Skrapari). 2. The Ottoman census of 1908. This is used for South Albania. Data by kaza referenced through writings of Destani and Psomas. Some reference to the Ottoman census of 1877 used, elaborated in the same sources.
