Summary edit

Description Original cutaway drawing of an "Albatros Doppeldecker Militärtyp 1912" (Albatros biplane military type 1912) with Argus motor (with water cooling, mostly the four-cylinder 100 hp variant with 2-pairs of (special) grey cast iron cylinder and Cr/Ni-steel crankshaft and conrods). The aircraft propeller had a diameter of 2.70 m. The aircraft propeller could be 2- or 4-winged, standard was the 2-winged propeller of the "Garuda Flugzeug- und Propellerbau GmbH", Berlin. The boat-shaped fuselage was destinated for 2 additional passengers. This airplane-type was the winner of the far-flight competition "Berlin-Breslau-Wien" (Berlin-Wrocław-Vienna) from 1912. Both, aircraft and motor, were built in Berlin-Johannisthal in 1911/1912, the aircraft at the "Albatros Flugzeugwerke GmbH" and the motor at the "Argus Motorengesellschaft mbH" (in Berlin-Reinickendorf, with a production branch in Berlin-Johannisthal since 1912). Constructor of this aircraft, as well as Technical Director and Chief Engineer of the "Albatros Flugzeugwerke GmbH" in Berlin-Johannisthal was the flight pioneer Hellmuth Hirth (1886-1938).
