English: Albert Memorial, Charlotte Square Gardens, Edinburgh This equestrian statue of Prince Albert in Field Marshall's uniform is by Sir John Steel and was unveiled in 1875. Groups of figures at the corners by other sculptors represent, 'The nobility', 'Science and Learning', 'Army and Navy' and 'Labour'. The gardens are normally private and is the location for the Edinburgh Book Festival when the public are admitted. Hence the rubbish bins! |
