Aleppo Maqam Ibrahim Salihin

Summary

edit
Description
English: In front of a mihrab there was a glass box with what I think may have been the spot where the venerated stone was, until it was put into another mihrab. The Maqam Ibrahim Salihin, a Zengid-Ayyubid project though the site was first honoured by the Seljuk sultan, Malik Shah in 1086. A rock honoured here is claimed to "date" from the time Abraham paid a visit , on his way from Ur to Hebron. The place, though obviously venerated, looks extremely modern. On the web one can find pictures that suggest an earlier building was covered with a modern roof to protect it, with a new façade.
