Notes Formerly attributed to Agnolo Bronzino and Francesco Salviati. It was attributed to Alessandro Allori by Robert Simon in 1978, and to Allori's workshop more recently. The traditional identification of the model as Piero de' Medici is supported by a inscription on the reverse of the painting and by comparison to a similar portrait of Piero in the collection of the Galerie Liechtenstein, Wien. Provenence takes its rise from Barberini family collection.
