Description
Italiano: Il Marchese Alfonso Guerrieri é qui rappresentato a mezzobusto e di tre quarti, in uniforme militare, all'interno di una cornice decorativa ottagonale riccamente ornata di motivi vegetali (forse foglie di quercia) e da quattro tondi ai lati principali. L'impostazione grafica si riconnette al modello offerto da una stampa raffigurante re Enrico IV di Francia, incisa a bulino da Balthasar Moncornet e datata 1660 circa (Mesée national du château de Pau, inventario P. 686). Il personaggio ritratto appartenne a una delle più nobili e illustri famiglie mantovane, fedelissima ai Gonzaga, per i quali vari suoi membri servirono come uomini d'arme e ambasciatori: nella prima categoria rientra, appunto, Alfonso Guerrieri. Vissuto tra XVI e XVII secolo (morì probabilmente nel 1639), fu Marchese di Montebello - titolo che il Gonzaga conferì al casato nel 1589 - e Generale delle truppe di Carlo I Gonzaga
