When Italian operator Columbia ceased flying in 1986, their Herald I-ZERC was returned to Field Aircraft Services at EMA, who were probably the actual owners. In the latter stages of the Columbia operation it had been sub-leased to Aligiulia, in whose titles it is seen here. It had been G-BFRJ, but now became G-CEXP and passed to Channel Express at Bournemouth. Channel Express retired it in 1996 and it was bizarrely craned onto the roof of the South Terminal at Gatwick as an attraction for spectators on the SkyView Terrace. When the Terrace was closed in 2003, the aircraft was removed, and went to the Gatwick Airport fire service for non-destructive exercises in the practice compound alongside the west end of the runway. In 2018 the UK Heritage Aviation Trust launched the "Herald Skyward" campaign to save the aircraft, move it to St Athan and restore it to ground-running condition.
