Summary
editDescriptionAll Saints Church, Knipton - geograph.org.uk - 999220.jpg |
English: All Saints Church, Knipton This shows the east window as well as the well proportioned north aisle window dedicated to the 5th Duke of Rutland. Knipton Church was conceived as a "double church": note the unusual width of the north aisle. This is known as the Hall Place Aisle, named after the manor house in Knipton. The aisle was owned by the Avenell family and was screened from the nave along its whole length. It had its own private door, which is now the only entrance to the church, and its own private chapel at the chancel end, hence the large window. |
