English: All Saints Church - war memorial. The war memorial is located on the south side of the tower. All Saints church > 1070159 stands on a hill on the site of an earlier building which is mentioned in the Doomsday book. The chancel dates from the 13th century; the tower, which contains three bells, was added a century later. Its clock is 300 years old and was installed by the Rev. William Vincent in 1872. The church interior > 1070169 -1070170 - 1070183 is much restored and contains a number of C19 and early C20 stained glass windows > 1070177 - 1070178 - 1070180. The church is also used for Benefice events such as holiday clubs for the children. The door is kept locked but a key is available from one of the two keyholders. Postwick is a small rural village of about 300 inhabitants, with the church of All Saints being the focal point. The civil parish has an area of 8.29 square kilometres and the village is located 7 kilometres east of the city of Norwich, just south of the A47 southern bypass. The railway passes through here but there is no station. |
