Description
English: This type of terracotta vases from Canosa, in Italian Apulia, was given as a grave goods to the deceased. The vase is highly ornamented with, amongst others, figures from Greek mythology: a medusa head to ward off evil and centaurs to accompany the deceased through the underworld. The female figures look a lot like the separate terracotta figures which were often found in graves as well.

One of a group of objects from a collection that in total is described as Hellenistic (a period lasting from ca. 335-30 BC). No further information about place where found etc. was provided.
