فارسی: کوچه راه‌باریکه‌ای است که معمولاً میان یا پشت ساختمان‌ها قرار دارد و تنها یک خودرو می تواند از آن بگذرد.
کوچهٔ بن‌بست کوچه‌ای است که پایانش بسته باشد.در شهرها یا شهرک‌های قدیمی ، کوچه‌ها اغلب به‌جامانده از شبکهٔ خیابانی سده‌های میانه هستند و یا دنبالهٔ یک راه یا پیاده‌روی کهن در یک شهر می‌باشند. در محلّه های کهن شهرهای ایران ، کوچه‌ها اغلب با دیوارهای بلند خشتی یا آجری و دارای سقف در فواصل گوناگون هستند که رهگذران را از گردوخاک و نور شدید آفتاب محافظت می‌کند.English: An alley or alleyway is a narrow lane, path, or passageway, often reserved for pedestrians, which usually runs between, behind, or within buildings in the older parts of towns and cities. هذا الشكل الهندسي "الزقاق" يتواجد بكثرة في الأحياء القديمة للمدن العتيقة، خاصة في أوروبا والعالم العربي والعالم الإسلامي.
