Description
English: America at war – Victory in the Aleutians
A contignent of U.S. Marines arrive at Adak Island in the Western Aleutians of the North Pacific to take part in the victorious Allied campaign against the Japanese in the area. An air bas was established at Adak to help drive the enemy from the sister Aleutian Islands of Kiska, Attu and Agattu. After the Japanese retreated the Allied air offensive continued eastward, striking at enemy bases in the Kurile Islands, which guarded the northern approacher to the Japanese mainland.
